This is the story of Leon, who works with his sons on the Vistula river, providing gravel and sand for the residents of Warsaw. The men pull out of the river a desperate woman trying to commit suicide together with her daughter. When it turns out that they are both Jews, Leon makes a heroic decision. Risking his family's life, he decides to help the woman and offers her and her daughter a hiding place at his house. 

The film belongs to a series of feature films titled Whoever Saves One Life, Saves the World Entire, presenting stories of Poles rescuing their Jewish neighbours, friends and complete strangers during WWII.
