The film presents the figure of General Bolesław Wieniawa-Długoszowski, a soldier, an adjutant and a friend of Marshal Piłsudski. The real-life story of Wieniawa is based on the history of Poland's regaining independence, in which Wieniawa played a huge role. The next stages of his life illustrate the change that took place in the whole Polish society, which was divided between the three partitioning powers.
