In this documentary, experts walk the audience through the development stages of the movie industry in pre-war Poland. They focus on great personalities, both the actors and directors. The film is an attempt to show how the stars were perceived back then, what was their social status and how did their personal lives look like. Two stars of the era have achieved international fame, Pola Negri who made a career in Hollywood and the singer Jan Kiepura. Most stars of the time had one thing in common: their promising careers were cut short by the outbreak of World War II. Which of them have become heroes? Who survived and continued to star in movies?

The authors of the film also try to give a comprehensive overview of the pre-war cinema in Poland and consider the popular statement that the acting skills of these stars outran the production value of the movies themselves. They also look for the timeless values in the pre-war movies.
