Late 1942: the 10-year-old Larissa escapes from the Warsaw Ghetto after her mother is deported to Treblinka. She climbs over the wall with a ladder and finds refuge on the “Aryan” side with the Jasik family living right next to the Ghetto. Their daughter, Helena, takes care of Larissa and treats her like a younger sister. After a few weeks, Larissa needs to leave the apartment and the girls are separated.

70 years later, Larissa, now living in Paris, wants to return to Poland and reunite with Helena.
