In October 2017, a referendum on the region's independence was held in Catalonia. It was, however, not, recognized by the authorities in Madrid. Even though a few years have passed, there is no end to heated disputes and discussions about the future of that Spanish region. Where did the issue of Catalan separatism come from? What is the social and cultural background of this movement? How can Spain defend its territorial integrity? The viewers can learn about different perspectives from which they can observe the growing crisis of freedom and democracy in Catalonia.
