The film tells the story of the inhabitants of the Romanian village of Tichilesti, an isolated community far from civilization. The tranquillity of the place is tainted with the tragedy of dozens of people suffering from leprosy, who back in the day were sent there to be isolated from the rest of society. During the communist era, the village was wiped off the maps by order of the authorities, and its residents were forbidden to leave the area. Today only a few of them are still alive, but the village is still infamous for its past. The director looks at the daily life, worries and longings of the villagers – people waiting for the inevitable end of their little world.
